Verbum Dei High School is an all-male, Archdiocesan, four-year college preparatory in the Jesuit tradtition located in the United States in Los Angeles, California. It is located in the USA West Province of the Society of Jesus and was founded in 1962.
To offset the costs of attendance, the school requires all students to work five days per month in a work study program. Students perform entry level clerical work in professional environments such as law, accounting, financial service firms, and health care. The money earned by the student goes directly to the school to help fund his education.
Verbum Dei, which has a student population of 50 percent African-American and 50 percent Latino, normally graduates 100 percent of its students and consistently sends over 95 percent of its graduates on to higher education.
